When trying to access the right click menu or create or edit certain out of box Configuration Items (CI), such as Services, these functions do not work. Other CIs, such as Computers, however, do work.
Two causes will result in this:
This is a defect. Certain older CI reports do not include drill-down or edit capabilities in their drill-down tab, resulting in right click, create and edit issues. Or,
This is working as designed, if this is a custom report. Custom reports do not necessarily immediately enable the right click menu or creation/editing of their records.
Depending on the cause, two solutions are available.
Cause: Out of box CI report is unable to use right click or create/edit. Solution: For Symantec Management Platform 7.1 pre-SP2, clone the problem reports and add the missing areas to their drill-down tab, as described in the following articles:
Or, upgrade to Symantec Management Platform 7.1 SP2 or higher, which should resolve the issue.
This article also includes some 7.1 SP2 (which should be backward compatible with older versions of 7.1) modified reports. These can be imported into the Symantec Management Platform Console (in reports, right click on a report folder and choose Import) to overwrite the out of box versions, which will also fix the issue. Cause: Custom report is unable to use right click ore create/edit. Solution: Edit the custom report and ensure that its drill-downs include these functions (similar to the above issue and solution and the following article), and, for SQL reports, ensure that the GUID is used in the SELECT statement and is referred to as "_ItemGuid".
