KNOWN ISSUE: Filters that include all resources in its definition (meaning users, files, etc) causes AexSvc and w3wp to consume more memory than expected.
Last Updated February 20, 2015
Customer reported that AeXSvc.exe and w3wp.exe processes where consuming most of the available memory on their SMP server. As soon as the Altiris Services were restarted, the memory usage went down but a few minutes later it started climbing high again.
Known Issue. After looking at the captured memory dump for this issue, it was found that the size of CollectionMembershipCache in memory was causing this problem. There was a filter that was defined to include all resources, (meaning users, files, etc). Its membership count was 2.8 million resources. After clearing out this filter’s membership, changing the definition and then refreshing its membership, AeXSvc.exe and w3wp.exe usage went down to 1.3GB and 1.5GB , vs 12GB and 14GB it was before.
