Found the Software Update executable was being saved as a different extension, and this hanging process was causing a delay for the Altiris Object Host Service. As the process saves the file, the service is hung and eventually stops. Restarting the service manually merely restarts the download, and that instigates the cause all over again.
This issue will be resolved in ITMS 7.5.
For ITMS 7.1 SP1, SP2 and MP1; please extract the attached PointFix to the SMP; right-click / Run as Admin on the 'PFInstaller' file and select 'Install Files.
Advisory: If the download process was executed without implementing the PF; work through the following steps:
Disable the Software Update on the Patch Remediation Center:
Go to the Console > Action > Software > Patch Remediation Center;
Highlight LM2007-001; Right-click / Disable
Disable all associated Software Update Policies
Stop the download process manually:
Go to the Console > Manage > Jobs and Tasks > Systems Jobs and Tasks > Software > Patch Management > Download Software Updates;
Highlight the LM2007-001 run attempt; Right-click / Stop
Ensure the 'Altiris Object Host Service' is started following this process.
