How to find out if an agent in CCS has been setup for Raw based or message based collection
Last Updated June 24, 2013
Need to find a way by which we can identify if any CCS 11 agent has been setup for raw based or message based data collection.
For Unix/Linux if agent registration is done by, 1) Running /esm/bin/<platform>/register binary then registration logs can be found at /esm/system/<hostname>/register.log. In register.log “Module-based content registration completed successfully” message will be found only if message based registration is done.
2) Running /esm/esmsetup then logs are not added under /esm/system/<hostname>/register.log file.
However in either cases we can determine if agent is registered for message based or raw based or for both by looking at /esm/system/<hostname>/db/agtcert.dat file on agent. Registered only for raw based then file will have entry with “cdb-key: CCS-*” as below, cdb-eoh cdb-bor cdb-flag: Normal cdb-len: 121 cdb-crc: 62446 cdb-key: CCS-3e7f99f6-f8a9-47af-a732-cb8a2e6702e0 cdb-data: 9f9bc4f1737b9b6c5a76a2f557e2356561a2660c1568854a1eab72ed6067a44e7
Registered only for message based then file will have entry “cdb-key: <manager-hostname>” as below, cdb-eor cdb-bor cdb-flag: Normal cdb-len: 95 cdb-crc: 38473 cdb-key: shri-w2k8-enzo cdb-data: 4c6536bbf507487105f3da307dbdce9b444bc5c7bf44158636368871e689dab7
Registered for both message based and raw based then file will have both the entries as below, bash-2.05# cat /esm/system/hpux-1131/db/agtcert.dat cdb-boh cdb-record-count: 2 cdb-eoh cdb-bor cdb-flag: Normal cdb-len: 121 cdb-crc: 62446 cdb-key: CCS-3e7f99f6-f8a9-47af-a732-cb8a2e6702e0 cdb-data: 9f9bc4f1737b9b6c5a76a2f557e2356561a2660c1568854a1eab72ed6067a44e ***************** cdb-eor cdb-bor cdb-flag: Normal cdb-len: 95 cdb-crc: 38473 cdb-key: shri-w2k8-enzo cdb-data: 4c6536bbf507487105f3da307dbdce9b444bc5c7bf44158636368871e689dab7 ***************** cdb-eor cdb-eof
If you decide to use agent for message or raw based at time of agent installation and install esm.tpk and ccs.tpk accordingly then CCS Console -> Agents -> Content info is helpful to identify the same.
