Feature Request: Improved support for Apple Standby Mode and Power Management
Last Updated September 11, 2015
Currently when in standby, the power of the laptop will drain faster than normal. In some cases within a day the battery will be depleted.
Symantec Corporation is committed to product quality and satisfied customers. This Feature Request is currently being considered by Symantec Corporation to be addressed in a forthcoming version of the product.
Technical Support filed a Feature Request to add this product feature. Note that an feature request is exactly that, a request. There is no committed date for this request from the Endpoint Encryption Product Management team, nor from the Endpoint Encryption Engineering team at this time.
Please be sure to refer back to this document periodically as any changes to the status of the request will be reflected here.
One workaround that may lessen the speed of the battery draining is to disable the option "Prevent App Nap" for the Symantec Encryption Desktop App.
To do this, open the Applications list on Mac, then right-click on the Symantec Encryption Desktop app, and then select "Get Info". Uncheck the option "Prevent App Nap". This should help improve battery life on Mavericks systems.
A current work around is to disable standby mode to avoid the rapid battery drain:
sudo pmset -a standby 0
