================================================================================ MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY THE PATCH ================================================================================ * Apply this patch only to those SSIM Servers that are running SSIM 4.7 MP4 or any of the patch versions for SSIM 4.7 MP4.
NOTE: SSIM 4.7 MP4 Patch 14 requires 600 MB of free disk space in the / and /opt partitions.

================================================================================ PATCH PRE-INSTALLATION PROCEDURES ================================================================================ Before you install the Patch, do the following:
* Save all work, backup any data and close any Information Manager console sessions.
The SSIM Directory Servers must be updated first, starting with the primary directory, then followed by all replica directories. All other SSIM Servers can then be updated.
NOTE: There is no facility to roll back or uninstall the Patch.
================================================================================ PATCH INSTALLATION ================================================================================ 1. Connect to the server using an account with administrative or root privileges either by using an SSH client or by logging on locally.
2. Download the Symantec_Security_Information_Manager_220.127.116.113_Linux_EN.tar.gz and .md5 files to the /tmp directory.
NOTE: You must use BINARY mode when transferring the files to the server. Some FTP utilities use ASCII mode by default, which corrupts the installation file.
3. Verify the integrity of the downloaded .tar.gz file by using a file verification tool such as md5sum, which is included with the Linux installation. If you use md5sum, execute the following command:
NOTE: Both the .tar.gz and .md5 files must be present in the same directory for md5sum to execute correctly.

4. Unpack the patch by executing the following command:
tar -xvzf Symantec_Security_Information_Manager_18.104.22.1683_Linux_EN.tar.gz

NOTE: The installer will automatically restart services and will restart the server when done. The SSIM installation history file will be updated at /etc/ssim-history.
