When trying to create a new custom resource (Settings > All Settings > Service and Asset Management > Resource and Data Class Settings > Resource Types), a browser pop-up error occurs:
In the Altiris server log, the following error occurs:
System.ApplicationException (Altiris.NS): The resource type could not be imported. The partitioned resource view vRM_New_Resource_Type would conflict with an existing view.
The dynamic view vRMNonLocalized_New_Resource_Type already exists in the database. This is normally dynamically created and then removed once a new custom resource is created. The existence of this prevents new custom resources from being created. This is not normally left but is possible it may be present if issues, such as crashes or performance problems, occurred during the creation of a prior custom resource type.
Remove the dynamic view vRMNonLocalized_New_Resource_Type from the database. The following SQL script can be used to do this in the SQL Server Management Studio:
USE Symantec_CMDB DROP VIEW vRMNonLocalized_New_Resource_Type
