When you try to install or upgrade IT Management suite, the following error occurs:
IT Management Suite products cannot be installed or upgrade fails due to the "PerformInstall - RunMsiInstallProduct(): Install Package <xxxx> InstallAlreadyRunning" error
and Windows Installer API returns the code 1618.
The product fails to install or upgrade.
Another installation is already in progress. Complete that installation before proceeding with this install.
If you get the "Install already running" error, perform the following steps:
Pause Microsoft .NET framework NGEN x86 and Microsoft .NET framework NGEN x64 services.
Make three attempts to install the same IT Management Suite package with a time interval of one minute. (If _MSIexecute mutex is set)
If any of the three attempts succeeds, Symantec Installation Manager proceeds to install the package. If all the three attempts fail, restart the machine or manually check the issue before retrying installation. Ensure that MSI logging is enabled while retrying installation.
After installation is successful, resume Microsoft .NET framework NGEN x86 and Microsoft .NET framework NGEN x64 services before proceeding to the next steps
