Not all Windows Azure VMs display the newest version of the Symantec Endpoint Protection extension
Last Updated May 13, 2014
You notice that some of the Windows Azure virtual machines (VMs) display an updated version of the Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) extension, while others do not. You want to know why there is a discrepancy with the extension updates.
Note: This document applies only to the Symantec Endpoint Protection extension for Azure. It does not apply to the Symantec Endpoint Protection full client installation.
The service on the Windows Azure VM that checks for an extension update, WindowsAzureGuestAgent, only checks at startup in order to stagger the rollout and prevent them all from updating at the same time.
To update the Symantec Endpoint Protection extension, reboot the VM. Alternately, you can restart the WindowsAzureGuestAgent service to force the check for an update.
