In Symantec Control Compliance Suite Assessment Manager (CCS AM), when attempting to publish an assessment from the CCS AM Admin Web Portal, the “Add Files…” link does not work.
Further, other symptoms include:
- The Add URL feature on the same dialog does not allow an Add URL to occur as well. - The assessment wizard from the web console and other wizards stretch unusually large to the edges of the screen, rather than being smaller sized as would be expected from a wizard dialogue. - Other aspects of CCS AM appear to be working correctly.
When clicking Add File or Add URL buttons nothing occurs. Multiple clicks on Add File or Add URL buttons may cause an "Error on Page" error message at the lower left side of the Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser (but no further information is given).
Microsoft Internet Explorer doesn't allow access to the Add File or Add URL buttons if DNS and the FQDN are not setup for IIS and that the FQDN is used within the URL for connecting to the CCS AM Admin website.
This is a limitation with Microsoft Internet Explorer. Lowering the security of Microsoft Internet Explorer does not change the outcome. To resolve the issue, the server that is hosting CCS AM needs to have DNS configured and be accessible by FQDN within the URL. This correction also resolves other issues listed above. If the issue continues to occur, the next step is to try to flush the DNS on the CCS server and reset Microsoft Internet Explorer to its default settings.
If DNS/FQDN is not preferable, a workaround can be done by using Google Firefox as the web browser, instead of Microsoft Internet Explorer. Google Firefox can work with CCS AM without DNS or FQDN.
