Issue/Introduction

After installing the Symantec Installation Manager (SIM), the product launches and immediately displays the following error:

You can review the log file created by Symantec Installation Manager by opening c:\Users\useridusedduringinstall\AppData\Local\Temp\SIM Logs\a.log.

Environment

ITMS 7.x, 8.x

Cause

It's possible that you're using an incompatible version of the Symantec Installation Manager software and it's not compatible with your operating system.

Resolution

Please make sure you're using the latest version of Symantec Installation Manager.  Although you may have downloaded this from Symantec's website you should check with support to make sure there is not some kind of version mismatch.
