Issue/Introduction

While creating or updating an EDM, the error "Data file could not be read (Could not create version x):EDM Data file not found" is shown

 

Resolution

If you encounter this error, verify the following:

  1. Just the file name is in the EDM profile, not a path to the filename.
  2. The source file used to make the index is located in  %ProgramData%\Symantec\ServerCommonPlatform\<version>\datafiles
    (on Linux /var/Symantec/DataLossPrevention/ServerPlatformCommon/<version>/datafiles)
  3. The EDM file with the specified name exists in the default directory (see the online help)
  4. The EDM file is not locked or in use by another application
  5. Protect user has read/write access to the file.
