Issue/Introduction

With in the initialization parameters used in the the Symantec DLP database template, there is a parameter called db_file_multiblock_read_count.  What is this and what is the recommended setting?

Resolution

The db_file_multiblock_read_count is the maximum number of blocks read during an
I/O operation involving a full sequential scan.

The value is listed in kilobytes. So, a value of 32 would be 32K and implies that

references to the dbf files would be in 4 block gulps. This means really high physical

read counts.

The recommended size for Symantec DLP is 16k or 16.
