Issue/Introduction

What drive letters can be used for mounting a Discover scan?

You may get an error Local Directory Specified for mounting is in use if the system is set to use a mount letter that is already in use.

Resolution

Windows
The setting "filesystemcrawler.mount.drive.validletters.windows" is located in the C:\<DLP_Install>\Protect\config\crawler.properties file on the Discover Server. This value lists all the valid drive letters that can be used to mount a share on windows. If multiple filesystems scans are running simultaneously on a server, each share will be mounted on a drive letter specified in the property.

Linux

If multiple filesystems scans are running simultaneously on a server, the share will be mounted on  "filesystemcrawler.mount.drive.letter.linux"/scanAssignmentId. The directory will be created automatically if required. Again, this value is from the crawler.properties file.
