Data Loss Prevention Endpoint Discover

Issue/Introduction

A customer has noticed that a eDAR scan has been running for over a week and the scan is not 100% complete.

Resolution

In a production environment there could be thousands of agents connected to an Endpoint Server. For an eDAR scan to reach 100%, all the agents must be running and connected.

There are a few possible reasons for the scan to never reach 100%. Some agents could be shut down because someone is on vacation, there could be Sales people who are in the field and not currently connected to the network, or it could be a machine that has crashed or has been re-imaged.

DLP never removes an agent automatically from the list.  The scan is trying to reach all machines, even if they are not available.

The best thing to do is wait until you reach a reasonable percentage for your environment.  This may be 80-90% of the agents.
