Issue/Introduction

Unable to log in to the UI because archive logging is used.

Resolution

There is a problem with database archiving logs being created on the file system. After the archiving stops the user can successfully log in to the system.

Vontu recommends not using archive logging. You can perform either hot or cold backups with the Oracle DBMS (standard edition) that ships with Vontu.

Hot Backup: With Oracle hot backups, you can maintain 24x7 real-time alerts and notifications. To maintain Oracle within a 24x7 environment, with continuous access through the UI, you must enable the Oracle hot backup. Your DBA must setup and maintain the Oracle hot backup to comply with company archival policies.

Cold Backup: Cold Backups allow you to perform scheduled backups without having a DBA involved. During the time of the backup you cannot get real time notification and alerts, nor can you log into the UI. Note that incidents are collected continuously even during the backup window and there is no loss of incidents. In essence, this is a file copy of the underlying database file system.

Note: Hot backups are possible, but would need to be supported by the local DBA.
