Control Compliance Suite (CCS) 11.0 Patch Assessment query shows inconsistent result and run time after applying SCU 2014-1
Last Updated June 24, 2014
After applying CCS 11.0 SCU 2014-1, patch assessment query shows inconsistent result and run time.
Updated files for patch assessment are not applied while installation of PCU 2014-1. We have seen this behavior where pautility.exe process is running while installing CCS 11.0 SCU 2014-1, despite the ccs manager service being shut down.
Update attached "PAUtility.exe and stPatchAssessment.dll" files as mentioned below on CCS Manager and CCS Agent.
File version after installing SCU 2014-1 PAUtil.exe : 11.0.10600.1136 stPatchAssessment.dll : 9.0.627.0
File location: CCS Manager: <Install drive>\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\CCS\Reporting and Analytics\DPS\control\Windows CCS Agent: <Install drive>\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\CCS\Reporting and Analytics\ESM\bin\dcmodules\Control\Windows
If you found file version older then mentioned above, then need to update this files manually. Follow below steps to update new files.
1. Stop CCS manager service and agent service on server. 2. Verify if PAUtility.exe*32 process is running on server. Kill this process if found in task manager. 3. Take backup of PAUtility.exe and stPatchAssessment.dll files from above mentioned locations. 4. Download given PAUtil.zip file in this technote. 5. Replace PAUtility.exe and stPatchAssessment.dll from PAUtility.zip to given location.
Note: Permanent fix for this issue is expected to be released in CCS 11.0 SCU 2014-3.
