After you upgrade to Symantec Endpoint Encryption version 11.x, and create a new policy, the deprecated policy options from earlier versions are set to their default settings and can no longer be modified.
When you upgrade to Symantec Endpoint Encryption version 11.x, be sure to review the settings that are configured for each policy.
When you apply a policy that is created with Symantec Endpoint Encryption Management Server 11.x to a Symantec Endpoint Encryption client version earlier than 11.0, any policy setting that is no longer supported in version 11.x is set to its default value. These older settings continue to appear on the version 11.x policy panels. However, the settings are grayed out and cannot be changed. You can change only those policy options that are supported by version 11.x.
When you modify the active settings in a policy panel, and then deploy the policy to the Symantec Endpoint Encryption clients running a version earlier than 11.0, the grayed-out settings are set to the original default values. However, for those policy panels that are not modified, the grayed-out settings remain unchanged.
