Issue/Introduction

While accessing the Symantec Protection Engine for NAS/Cloud user interface, Application Blocked by Java Security pop-up message is displayed even if the user has installed the latest Java version.

The security warning is seen while launching the SPE UI.

Cause

Java application certificate has expired for Symantec Protection Engine 7.5.X and 7.0.X since September 2014. This causes Java errors in browsers using supported version of Java JRE 1.7 and 1.8.

Resolution

Note: This is a temporary workaround.

Add the specific Symantec Protection Engine user interface URL to the Exception Site List in the Java Control Panel by the following steps:

  1. Click on Start > Control Panel > Java (32-bit) (Java Control Panel).
  2. Click on Security tab > Edit Site List.
  3. Add the Symantec Protection Engine user interface URL in exception site list.
  4. Click on OK.
  5. Save and apply the changes.
  6. Symantec Protection Engine user interface will now open when you try to open it again.
