Microsoft Office 2013 no longer provides an App-V deployment kit for prepopulating licenses. Can Office 2013 be virtualized with prepopulated licenses?
In the past, Microsoft provided the Office 2010 Deployment Kit for App-V to enable Office 2010 client products to be sequenced and deployed with Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V). Using Symantec Workspace Virtualization (SWV), administrators can virtualize the Office 2010 Deployment Kit for App-V into an SWV layer. Virtualizing the deployment kit allows the administrator to pre-populate the applications' licenses into a layer using a stand-alone instance of OSPPSvc to manage the license/activation checks. The administrator can then create layers for each of the Office 2010 client products (removing the integrated OSPPSvc from each layer). The advantage of using this method is that the virtualized Office 2010 client products can share the stand-alone OSPPSvc from the deployment kit layer and each application will find its corresponding license.
With the release of the Office 2013 suite, Microsoft decided to go a different direction with regards to App-V deployment. Microsoft no longer provides an App- V deployment kit to pre-populate the licenses and instead they provide the Office 2013 Click-to-run installer to automate the creation of the App-V package. As a result, there is no longer an officially supported method to independently package the OSPPSvc and licenses. If you encounter difficulties in packaging Office 2013 or other applications, we highly recommend engaging with a certified Symantec partner who focuses on packaging of applications.
