Issue/Introduction

You are experiencing an issue with the Schemus LDAP Synchronization Tool hanging while attempting to connect to Active Directory after LDAP section in setting up a new configuration or importing a configuration from a previous install.

Resolution

This issue only affects version 1.39.  The first recommendation is to update to the most current version of the Schemus LDAP Synchronization Tool which is available in the Symantec.cloud portal.

If this is not possible, the following solution should resolve the issue.

  1. On your server open up your folder options, go to advance, and untick, hide extensions for known file types,
  2. Next browse to the following location depending on your operating system:
    Windows 2003/XP: C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataSchemusapplicationsettings
    Windows 2008/7/8/Vista: C:ProgramDataSchemusapplicationsettings
  3. Create a new text file, and call it startup.properties not startup.properties.txt
  4. Next edit the file with notepad and enter the follow lines of code:
    java.net.useSystemProxies=false
    com.metanate.schemus.regex.sunjdk=false
  5. Save and exit, and then restart Schemus, you should no longer see the problem
