You would like to know the recommended settings for the Group Update Provider (GUP) disk cache size for Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) clients.
The default LiveUpdate Settings policy for SEP is configured to allow a maximum of 500 MB of content to be cached on a Group Update Provider. This is too small to house more than a single revision of Virus and Spyware definitions. If your GUPs are configured with the default maximum, they will be unable to download more than a single full.zip for 32-bit or 64-bit Virus and Spyware definitions. Clients configured to download content exclusively from a GUP may not be able to update from their GUP when they are unable to use a delta.
To prevent this problem from happening, increase the Maximum disk cache size to a minimum of 2 GB (2048 MB) using the following steps.
Once your GUP computers receive this updated policy, they will store up to 2 GB of content updates in the SharedUpdates folder.
