If during a scheduled scan of a Guest VM, the Guest VM is powered off, when the VM is powered back on, the previous Scheduled scan may not resume from where it left off. Instead, sometimes the scan does not resume and must be manually restarted or wait until the next scheduled scan.
If a Guest Virtual Machine (GVM) goes down when the on-demand scan is in progress, the scan does not resume even after the GVM is back online.
The status in Monitor > Status shows the scan is running, however after some time the scan fails.
The VMware Thin-Agent owns the task of iterating the file system for On-Demand scans. The VMware thin-agent does not persist its state. If the Guest VM is powered off, the VMware Thin-Agent is unloaded and any context associated with the current scan may be lost.
This issue pertains to VMware behavior.
