Messaging Gateway

Issue/Introduction

  • Administrator of Symantec Messaging Gateway (SMG) wants to allow emails for "Local Good Sender Domains" and "Local Good Sender IPs" to bypass all content filtering policies.
  • Selected action is to bypass content filtering policies.
  • End user quarantine is enabled with option for end user to manage their own personal good and bad sender list.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Configure end user quarantine with local good sender options enabled.
  2. Add a sender to personal good sender list.
  3. Configure local good sender action to deliver message normally and bypass content filtering.

OBSERVED BEHAVIOR:

When a sender sends an email and belongs to end user personal good sender list, messages will bypass spam scanning but not content filtering.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR:

Administrator has created an action to bypass content filtering policies and he is expecting that email will bypass content filtering for end user personal good sender.

Environment

Messaging Gateway

Resolution

The end user personal list will only bypass spam scanning and not content filtering.

End users cannot bypass content filtering by design.

This is expected behavior and not configurable.
