Issue/Introduction

Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) 14.3 RU3 SymDelta_* folders and contents accumulate in C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService\Local Settings\Temp or in C:\Users\semsrv\AppData\Local\Temp and are not removed after failed delta merge operations. These systems could potentially run out of disk space.

Cause

Not deleting delta merge files when delta merge is unsuccessful.

Resolution

In Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager 14.x an option was added when to delete the SymDelta temp folders and contents by adding a value to the conf.properties file. For information on how to obtain the latest build of Symantec Endpoint Protection, read TECH 103088: Download the latest version of Symantec Endpoint Protection

To implement the option after upgrading SEPM to 14.x and later :

1. On the SEPM, open conf.properties file from \Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\tomcat\etc folder.
2. Add the following line:

scm.delta.merge.delete.after.days=1

3. Restart both Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager and Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Webserver services.

Note: The SymDelta_* temp folders and contents will be deleted based on the value used (days= can be set to: 0, 1, or 3)

Examples:
scm.delta.merge.delete.after.days=0
(Deletes all the SymDelta_* folders)

scm.delta.merge.delete.after.days=1
(Deletes a day old SymDelta_* folders)

scm.delta.merge.delete.after.days=3
(Deletes 3 days older SymDelta_* folders)
