It is necessary to renew the license of the SMG, in order to continue using the software.
However, registering the renewed license is unsuccessful and results in an error indicating that the license file is invalid.
Error message following attempt to register the renewed license:
Cannot register the specified license file. Unable to complete registration with Symantec. You may have specified an invalid license file. Please specify a valid license file. No more information
Possible causes include:
A) Attempt to register the renewed license took place while the previous/current license is still valid. Please try registering the renewed license after current valid license expires.
B) License file is corrupted.
C) License file is not corrupted, however it is invalid / improper or otherwise unsuitable for use with the Symantec Messaging Gateway.
If the attempt to register the renewed license for the Symantec Messaging Gateway after the current valid license has expired is unsuccessful and results in an error, please contact Symantec Technical Support to have the license file examined.
Please be advised that Symantec Technical Support is unable to generate new license files in any case. If the license file is corrupted, Symantec Customer Care or your local Symantec Partner will be able to provide you with a valid / suitable license file.
