PXE services stop after Ghost Solution Suite 3.1 server machine is rebooted.
Last Updated May 24, 2016
After installing or upgrading Ghost Solution Suite 3.1 and setting up the PXE server things will work correctly until the Ghost Server is rebooted. After rebooting the PXE services won't be running and an error will come up if they are tried to be started.
A simular error will be reported for each of the 4 PXE service when an attempt is made to start them manually.
Windows could not start the altiris pxe config helper service on local computer. Error 1068: the dependancy service or group failed to start.
There is an issue with extra dependancy information entered for the pxe services that was not needed.
This issue was resolved in GSS 3.1 MP1 please see the release notes for MP1 DOC9253 for more information.
To apply this fix before MP1 the following steps can be performed.
It is recomended that you back up your system's registry before the following 4 registry keys are deleted. Once these 4 registry keys are deleted the server will need to be rebooted, Upon rebooting the 4 pxe services will again start automatically after every restart.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Altiris PXE MTFTP Server \DependOnGroup
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Altiris PXE Server \DependOnGroup
