Issue/Introduction

Your computer fails to connect to Wireless Display Devices.

Cause

Miracast/Intel WiDi devices communicate over a WiFi network connection on UDP port 67, and 68. If your Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) client is not configured to allow this traffic, it wil be blocked by default. The same problem can occur when using the Windows Firewall instead of SEP Network Threat Protection (NTP).

Resolution

To allow access to Miracast devices, add a firewall rule to allow with a source or destination port of UDP 67, or 68.

For instructions on creating a firewall rule for managed SEP clients, see http://support.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO81156.

For instructions on creating a firewall rule for unmanaged SEP clients, see http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH105725.
