You see ODBC errors when opening MS Acceess, MS Excel, or MS Word documents where Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition (Cloud) is installed.
"ODBC call failed",
"ODBC – connection to Visual FoxPro Tables failed",
“OBDC call failed specified driver could not load error 0”.
"Specified Driver could not be loaded due to System Error 1114",
or "ODBC--Connecyion yo ... Failed and Microsoft Access cant open the table in datasheet view."
Proactive Exploit Protection caused a conflict with the ODBC driver.
The issue has been resolved through an engine update for Client IDS, version 15.1.1.
To ensure that you are on the latest driver: 1. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Symantec.cloud\EndpointProtectionAgent\NortonData\22.214.171.124\Definitions\IPSDefs. 2. Open the most recently dated directory (e.g. 20160524.004). 3. Open IDSVix86.inf in a text reader. 4. Verify that the version is equal to or greater than 15.1.1.
