Issue/Introduction

After logging into the Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEPM), the home page shows "Information is currently unavailable" under the Windows Definitions section.

Cause

The Endpoint Protection Manager has not downloaded SEP 14 Virus and Spyware definitions and may only be downloading legacy 12.1.x or no Virus and Spyware Definitions at all.

Resolution

Check the SEPM LiveUpdate settings to ensure it is configured to download SEP 14 Virus and Spyware definitions.

  1. Log into the SEPM, select Admin
  2. Select Local Site and choose Edit Site Properties under Tasks
  3. Select the LiveUpdate tab
  4. Click the Change Selection button in the Content Download for Client types
  5. Ensure the top two check boxes, Standard and embedded clients and Dark network clients, are selected

Only selecting the Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.x content to download will not cause the Latest on Manager section to update. If the top two boxes are selected and the home page still isn't updated, check to see if the SEPM is able to download content successfully from either the public LiveUpdate servers or an internal LiveUpdate Administrator.

Note : 12.1.x content option can be unchecked as Broadcom not releasing new definitions for SEP version 12.1 x anymore.
