Customers often receive log query issues, such as timeout errors, in MSS portal. This document discusses common errors and their resolution.
While running a log query in MSS portal, you may come across certain issues such as:
Query reaches maximum number of rows and remaining logs are not displayed.
No logs returned though query execution is complete.
The resolution is as follows:
For timeout error:
In case a query is expected to retrieve a huge volume of data, increase the timeout value (maximum 15 minutes) and row count (maximum 1,000,000 rows). This will automatically run the query in offline mode*.
Use the default query fields.
Check the Run Query Offline check box to run the query in offline mode*. This mode is preferred when the query involves long time ranges.
If the query reaches the maximum number of rows and remaining logs are not displayed.
Add more specific fields to the query from the drop-down list.
Increase the timeout and maximum row count. This will automatically run the query in offline mode*.
No logs returned though log query is executed.
Modify the search with alternate fields to improve the search.
Modify the time period** to +/- 2-3 days of the actual search period.
Note: *Offline mode - It is best to choose Run Query Offline when long time ranges are required. The query runs in the background and the results are sent to the registered email ID.
**Time period - The maximum time period for which a log query could be run is 92 days. Contact MSS Service Mangers for log retrieval more than 92 days.
