Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition cloud (SEP SBE) system tray icon is not visible for multiple logged on users on a Windows Operating System. Running "Symantec.cloud Status" also does not bring up the user interface for SEP SBE.
With Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition cloud (SEP SBE) installed, you're unable to open the user interface for the software, and do not see the icon in the taskbar.
Cannot open interface when multiple users are logged into the same system
This functionality is by design and although the interface is not in the tray icon the users are still protected as long as SEP.cloud is installed.
The Symantec.cloud Status system tray icon and user interface can only be active in one Windows user session at a time. It is visible for the first user that logs on, but not for subsequent users. If the first user logs off, then the second user logged on can run Symantec.cloud Status and the icon will appear and the user interface can be opened. The third user logged on cannot see the icon or open the GUI until the second user has logged off. This is commonly seen with Terminal Servers but can affect any machine with multiple users logged in.
When a user needs to access the interface while another user is logged on the user interface process must be stopped. To process can be stopped in two ways
From the Administrative command line enter
taskkill /f /im paui.exe
From the task manager (taskmgr.exe)
Select the Processes tab (Windows 7 desktop Windows server 2008) Details tab (Windows 8 and 10 desktop,Windows server 2012 and 2016)
Right click PAUI.exe
Select End Process
Click Symantec cloud status in the start menu or use the following command: "C:\Program Files\Symantec.cloud\PlatformAgent\PAUI.exe" -s
The Symantec icon should now appear in the system tray
