When you install or upgrade Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) 14 to a later version, you see an additional credential prompt that says "Please provide the information for the SQL Server system administrator."
These credentials are used for the new reporting features and REST API in Endpoint Protection Manager 14. The install process requires system administrator or system administrator-like privileges to create the report database.
Enter the system administrator account credentials, or create and use a system administrator clone. This will enable the creation of the reporting database.
Once the reporting database has been created and the install or upgrade is complete, the credentials are no longer required. At that time you can deactivate the user (if you created a clone), or delete it. If you used the system administrator account proper, you may change the password.
Note: This credential prompt will occur each time you install or upgrade the Endpoint Protection Manager.
