Endpoint Protection scheduled scans are taking just over 8 hours to complete

After upgrading to Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) 12.1.6 MP5, scheduled scans are now taking up to 16 hours to finish. This will occur if a scan is set to use either the balanced or best application performance settings. Logs display the message “User is not Idle,” and indicate that no user is logged on.
Scans are referencing idle user sessions for users that are not logged in when the scan begins.
