Issue/Introduction

Some file extensions are unique to various applications such as .twbx files. It may seem that they are different file types and would be difficult or unsupported for DLP to process. However, most file extensions can actually be scanned by DLP.

Resolution

Data Loss Prevention can scan and detect on seemingly unique file extensions. Many unlisted file extensions will work well with detection, such as .twbx files.

With DLP's content detection, a content extraction is performed for any supported filetypes. We do not list all supported file extensions, and the best way to see if a file extension will be detected and extracted successfully is to test that filetype individually.

If a file extension is changed to a false extension ( .ZIP changed to .WRX ), DLP will still scan it as a .zip file since the filetype (or signature) has not changed, just the extension.
