Ghost Solution Suite

Issue/Introduction

You have booted to a Windows PE preboot environment, you are using Ghost to capture or deploy and image and you find that a particular hard drive is not present on the menus provided by Ghost.

Environment

NVME, NVLM, M.2 hard drive

Resolution

  • Use either WinPE 5.1 or Win PE 10.
Previous versions of Windows PE tend to have problems with certain new types of hardware.
  1. Add Enhanced Storage to your preboot configuration and then rebuild it and try again. Here are the steps:
    1. Start Boot Disk Creator
    2. Right click on Configurations, choose New Configuration
    3. Follow the steps to create your configuration as you normally would until you see "Optional Components"
    4. Check the checkbox for WinPE-EnhancedStorage
    5. Proceed with the wizard as you normally would, build a new preboot environment and test it.
If the boot disk still fails to recognize the hard drive...
  2. Locate the device driver for the Hard Drive Controller from the hardware manufacturer and add it to the Ghost Preboot Environment
