Issue/Introduction

Access log uploading fails with the following error:

"Access Log FTP (main): Socket error occured on data channel."  20 E000A:1   alog_ftp_client.cpp:1977
"Access Log (main): error in sending log data, error code = -1"  0 E000A:96   alog_stream.cpp:1762
"Access log (main): Log uploading failed.  Remote filename: TEST_filename__000000000000.log.gz size: 71 KB."  0 E0008:1

Resolution

The root cause of the file uploading failure varies; consider the following possible reasons:

  • Network issue caused the FTP connection to terminate.
  • Receiving buffer on the server is unavailable.
  • Disk space on the file server is not enough to receive and store the file, and the server closes the FTP connection.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check the server file system and confirm if the available disk space is enough.
  2. Confirm that the FTP service is available.
  3. Take packet capture and review to see why and who closed the connection

If you cannot solve the issue with the steps listed above, the packet capture will be the crucial information for troubleshooting. Obtain packet captures and contact Symantec Support.
