In Director versions prior to 6, the appliance has an enable mode password shared by all administrators.
In Director 6, the enable password field is removed from the Director Management Console login screen and the "enable password" command is no longer available in the Command Line Interface (CLI).
To log in to the Management Console in Director 6, you need only provide the login password. To log in to enable mode or configure mode in the CLI, you must enter the password or passcode that is registered on the local, RADIUS/SecurID, TACACS or LDAP authentication domain; the enable password is no longer a shared password. For example, if you log in with the username “admin” and password “123”, in enable mode you would use the password “123”.
Director allows or denies access to enable mode based on the privilege level of the logged in user.
To change the enable password, change the login password for the appropriate user:
For a local user account on Director, change the password in the Management Console, Click the Configure tab, and then select Actions > Configure Users.
In the CLI, issue the following command: director (config) # username "user_name" password "pass_word"
do not use quotes, just replace user_name with the name of the user whose password you wish to change and pass_word with the new password
note: Empty login passwords are not supported. To not prompt this user for a password at all, use the 'username <username> nopassword' command.
