After logging into the Director Management Console you receive the error message "ERROR:Database connection failed"
Rebooting Director does not resolve the issue.
Director uses a Postgres database; this error occurs if the database fails to load. One thing that can prevent the database to load is lack of space in the partition.
To troubleshoot the issue, log into the command line interface (CLI) and enter shell mode:
In the CLI, enter enable mode.
Enter configure mode.
Browse to /var/log. Then, do the following:
Look in the messages file for any error messages related to Postgres.
Enter "df -h" and verify that the hard disk partitions have not filled up.
Enter "exit" to exit shell mode.
If the /var/log/messages file has filled up the partition, back up the file, then, delete it and restart Director.
If space on the partition is still preventing the database from loading other possible sourcees that can be checked include the backup files in /local/logs/scplogs/backups/ or troubleshooting debug files, see article 000008073
