When attempting to configure a ProxySG through the Director Management Console (right-click -> Configure) you may receive the following error message:
Error occurred at local time: <date and time>
Could not launch Management Console
This error may come up if there's a compatibility or corruption issue with the Director and ProxySG Java JAR files that are cached on your workstation.
Follow these steps to resolve this issue:
Close all open Director and ProxySG Management Consoles.
Go to Start > Run and type in "%userprofile%\bluecoat", then press Enter *
Delete all files and folders found within that folder.
It is suggested you delete the Java cache, as well, by following these steps.
On your Windows Host, click on <Start> <Control Panel>
Then double click on the Java icon.
Under the General tab, click on view.
While "Applications' are being displayed, select Director management Console application.
Choose the 'x' button to delete them.
Press 'close' and exit out.
Reconnect to the Director management console, and you should now be able to access it without any errors.
* In some configurations of Windows, Java will report a different directory as the user's 'Home Directory', than the directory reported by windows as %userprofile% (for example, Java may report a folder-share where the user's roaming profile is stored, whereas Windows reports a local directory under c:\Users). In this case, the bluecoat folder containing the Director and ProxySG Java JAR files will be stored in the directory reported by Java, and it's this folder that will need to be emptied of all files and folders. To check which folder Java is using to store the files, open the Java Console (right-click the Java Icon in the system-tray, once the main Director GUI has loaded, and click Open Java Console). In the console window that opens, look at the third line down, starting 'User home directory'.
