You receive the error "Unable to load resource: https://ip-of-dir:8085/lib/webstart_director.jar" when trying to log in to Director after upgrading to Java 7 update 71 or Java 8.
Some extensions in the certificate cause a Java failure to download the jnpl file even though it is hosted without issue on Director and can be downloaded directly via the browser. Because the problem is with downloading files, the issue might not manifest unless you clear your Java cache. If the issue occurs, the wrapped exception is as follows:
javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: java.security.cert.CertificateException: Certificate contains unsupported critical extensions: [184.108.40.206] at sun.security.ssl.Alerts.getSSLException(Unknown Source) at sun.security.ssl.SSLSocketImpl.fatal(Unknown Source) at sun.security.ssl.Handshaker.fatalSE(Unknown Source) at sun.security.ssl.Handshaker.fatalSE(Unknown Source) at sun.security.ssl.ClientHandshaker.serverCertificate(Unknown Source) at sun.security.ssl.ClientHandshaker.processMessage(Unknown Source) at sun.security.ssl.Handshaker.processLoop(Unknown Source) at sun.security.ssl.Handshaker.process_record(Unknown Source)
This has been resolved in Director 220.127.116.11. Please upgrade your software.
