Issue/Introduction

Content Analysis beginning with version 1.2.4.5 introduced additional licensing checks which may result in the license being suspended under certain conditions.

You can finds similar error in clp_services.log:

 CAS err entitlements[5812]: Error in processing notifiers for the component Sandboxing:   -14403:license suspended due to license server avoidance

 CAS err ERROR com.bluecoat.clp.shared.CliCommon- Error in invokeRPCUtil = ErrorCode=-14403:ErrorMessage=license suspended due to license server avoidance  

Cause

This error will occur if either of the following are detected:

  • The Content Analysis appliance cannot access the host validation.es.bluecoat.com on port 443.
  • The licensing server detects that the serial number of the appliance has been used elsewhere.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, ensure Content Analysis can access the host validation.es.bluecoat.com either directly or using a proxy. If you're using a proxy appliance, please ensure SSL interception is disabled for this connection as Content Analysis may attempt to send a client certificate.

If you feel the serial number has not been used elsewhere and that this is in error, please contact support to discuss the options available.
