An upgrade of Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) from 12.1.6 MP7 to 14 MP1, with an embedded database, results in an, "Unexpected Server Error". The login proceeds but, the first three tabs (Home, Monitors, and Reports) are also blank. The same behavior is seen with the SEPM Web console. This issue is not seen when using an SQL database.
When you log on, the following error message displays: "Unexpected server error. ErrorCode: 0x10010000."
reporting.log contains the following error message:
ERROR:fatal error at login: \r\nEXCEPTION block1: Error message: <b>Source:</b> SAOLEDB.16<br/><b>Description:</b> Invalid user ID or password\r\nError code: -2147352567\r\nFile and line: C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Php\Include\Common\ado.php(86)\r\n
Separated the way the embedded database and the SQL Server database is handled during the upgrade process. This issue is fixed in Symantec Endpoint Protection 18.104.22.168 (MP2) For information on how to obtain the latest build of Symantec Endpoint Protection, see Download the latest version of Symantec Endpoint Protection.
