Unable to run a full repair or a reconfigure on the SMP in SIM after performing an upgrade

After upgrading the Symantec Management Platform from 7.6 HF7 to 8.1 RU3, you are not able to run a full repair or a reconfigure on the Symantec Management Platform in the Symantec Installation Manager.
The selected database, 'Symantec_CMDB' is not supported by this upgrade process. Install the following updates on the existing SMP server and then continue with the upgrade process:
Symantec Management Platform 7.6 HF7.
The installation of the updates will upgrade your existing database to a support version.
To run, "AeXConfig.exe /configure <Path to the config file>" under C:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\Bin\ in the command prompt on each configuration file listed below and run a reconfigure in the Symantec Installation Manager on the Management Platform.
C:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\Config\CoreSolution.config C:\Program Files\Altiris\Resource\ResourceMgmt.config C:\Program Files\Altiris\InventoryRuleManagement\Config\InventoryRuleManagement.config C:\Program Files\Altiris\NSWebService\Config\NSWebService.config C:\Program Files\Altiris\CredentialManager\Config\CredentialManager.config --These last two are applicable if you have a post GA version already installed. For example, you installed 7.6 HF7 or 8.1 RU4: C:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\Config\NS_Update.config C:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\Config\NS_Hotfix.config
