Inventory and Software Management Solution Plug-in install policies never reach clients, never install
Last Updated October 12, 2017
Inventory and Software Management Solution Plug-in install policies never reach clients, never install.
This is caused by the shadow policies for the plug-ins (those that are targeted to specific platforms such as Wndows, Linux, Mac) never updating the targets assigned to them, thus the targeted computers never receive the policies.
The Symantec Management Platform (SMP) server was set to a future date for a time. This caused dates in the database to be set to the future, causing this behavior.
A script is available to find and set dates that are older than the current datetime to the current date. This resolves the issue. Please follow this process:
Save the attached SQL script to your SQL Server.
Open SQL Enterprise Studio and connect to the Symantec_CMDB (or specifically named Altiris) database.
Go to File > Open > File and browse to the SQL script.
Choose to execute the script once loaded.
As this will not be a common situation, the full fix will not be until a future full version release.
