BUG REPORT: Upgrade of Endpoint Encryption Management Console does not honor previous custom install location
Last Updated October 11, 2017
If a previous version of Symantec Endpoint Encryption was installed to a custom location (the D: drive for example), after upgrading the Endpoint Encryption Management Console it will be installed in the default "C:\Program Files\Symantec\" location instead of that previously configured custom location. There is also no option to change this location during the upgrade.
This issue applies to Endpoint Encryption versions 11.1.1 and above, due to the introduction of the unified single MSI installer.

Symantec Corporation is committed to product quality and satisfied customers. This issue is currently being considered by Symantec Corporation to be addressed in a forthcoming version or Maintenance Pack of the product. Please be sure to refer back to this document periodically as any changes to the status of the issue will be reflected here.
The following is a known temporary workaround, allowing the upgraded version to be installed to a custom location:
1. Uninstall the previous version of Endpoint Encryption Server Suite, leaving the database intact. 2. Install the new version of Endpoint Encryption as a new install and connect to the existing database.
