Issue/Introduction

When trying to join a ProxySG to a Windows Domain an error appears: "LDAP constraint violation"

Cause

This error can be caused by having an unsupported amount of characters in either the proxy's hostname or the password used to join the domain.

  • Passwords cannot exceed 128 characters.
  • The proxy's hostname cannot be more than 15 characters long.

Resolution

Reduce the hostname or password to a shorter one depending on where the issue is.

Note: All characters are taken into account when creating the hostname. Make sure the credentials don't have any non-supported character as explained in article TECH242736
