Issue/Introduction

When uninstalling a CCS agent on a Windows server, it will fail and not uninstall.

Environment

Windows 2008 (R2)
Windows 2012 (R2)
Windows 2016 (R2)
 

Cause

Sometimes there are files that are still in use that will cause the CCS agent not to be uninstalled, even if the services of the CCS agent are stopped.

Resolution

Stop the 'Symantec CCS Agent' service, and change the 'Startup Type' from Automatic to Manual.  Reboot the server.  Once the server is rebooted, go in to the Window's Control Panel and uninstall the Symantec Control Compliance Suite Agent (with the CCS agent still stopped).  The CCS agent should uninstall correctly.
