Issue/Introduction

With the introduction of Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) 14.2 and the Sylink replacement of Communication Module, how clients failover and their priority logic has been changed.

Environment

Resolution

  • 2 SEPM sites replicating with each other.
  • Management Server List has two priorities, one for each site.

What happens if SEPM 1 goes down?

Logic prior to 14.2 Logic in 14.2, and newer

  • After the disruption to the high priority SEPM is resolved, clients will continue to report to the lower priority SEPM.
  • Clients will failover from a higher priority SEPM to a lower priority SEPM.
  • After the disruption to the high priority SEPM is resolved, clients will be able to report back to the higher priority SEPM.
