Symantec Management Agent installed on a computer with a package server role (also called site server) is able to read and report used IIS port bindings. The discovered bindings are later used to configure the site server communication profile.
Sometimes there is a requirement to configure more than one port in IIS bindings in a site server. For example, you have 2 ports configured in a package server IIS bindings: 80 and 8080. There is another requirement to use port 8080 only for Altiris (ITMS) packages distribution and port 80 for "other", none-Altiris related traffic. Since the process to generate and distribute the communication profiles is mostly automated, it is not possible to control which port will be utilized for endpoint - site server communication. There is no option to change the ports & lock the communication profiles, and, even if changed, the next basic inventory will revert the changes back.
